Speedy Generators - Health & Safety

At Speedy Generators we continually and actively strive to reduce the number of cases of noise-induced hearing loss through noise at work.

In April 2006 new regulations came into force for all industry sectors in Great Britain. The aim of the regulations is to ensure that workers' hearing is protected from excessive noise at their place of work, which could cause them to lose their hearing and/or to suffer from tinnitus (permanent ringing in the ears).

There are three levels at which employers must take appropriate measures to protect their staff, and risk assessments must be made if the noise level exceeds the lower level:

Lower Exposure Action Level

Daily or weekly exposure to noise of 80 dB;
Peak sound pressure of 135 dB

Upper Exposure Action Level

Daily or weekly exposure to noise of 85 dB;
Peak sound pressure of 137 dB

Maximum Exposure Action Level

Daily or weekly exposure to noise of 87 dB;
Peak sound pressure of 140 dB. This level of noise exposure must not be exceeded.
We have a policy of buying super-silenced equipment wherever and whenever possible.
